I also don't know yet why twitter and facebook like an outbreaks come accross the world. I just use twitter to promote my blog but it's so use many of times so I can't concern with them. May be there are many plugin or tools will make easier the work but I don't think to use that. Fortunately. But I'm sure this is benefit to many person who needed.

Thank you for writing this. It jarred me into realizing something. You started with "You either fall into the “Fad” crowd or “Rebel” crowd. Most young adults would rather be unique and non-conformed..." Well, the truth is - if you think about it - young people are trying on multiple personalities and attitudes trying to figure out who they are. There are so many options. Always have been. Twitter lends itself to having a consistent presentation. (I personally find that news sources, and people with very specific subjects or subject access are the ones I prefer.) Some people have a professional Twitter account and separate accounts for specific interests. The whole Twitter thing about having LOTS of followers lends itself to a competitive view that may intimidate young people who have enough insecurities without adding that. The stats are at once surprising and enlightening. I'm not quite sure what to make of it and what it says about where Twitter might go. It certainly says a great deal about where Twitter is today and what audiences are reachable through it. I'd love to see those same statistics year by year to watch Twitter evolve.

I am forty and feeling old since I don't really know what twitter does. I keep hearing about it and have seen the website but don't get why it's becoming popular.
I guess that's the first sign of aging....sigh....feeling unhip. :(

I have actually seen this in my own home. I've been teaching my two "Millennial" children (ages 18 and 21) about Twitter. It was killing my 18 year old son who is a MySpace king to find out his mother knew more about something "cool" than he did. Turns out, he's not alone.

I found this rather interesting, I intuitively thought that Twitter, like the rest of the social media, would be embraced by the younger audience. However, now that I look at my Twitter network, there does seem to be a lot older folks than my Facebook network.

very interesting!
