I think they just need to change the approach on the social site. Make it strictly for veterans and family and then it can be used by the veterans as a means of communication. There is another website called vet2vetspace.com that has nothing but families and veterans on it.

Looks like http://www.Swaptree.com just launched a military program too – they now support all APO?FPO addresses. This will allow our troops to trade books, CDs, DVDs, and video games with other troops & civilians around the world.

Pretty cool!
