I am actually in the market for a new pocket camera that is real easy to use, not too high-tech and for the right price. Last year the Flip Video Camera killed the market making it popular to all consumers both tech savvy and non.

With the increase in Social Media Video Blogging especially cheesy Facebook birthday videos (LOL) Pocket Cams are all the lastest buzz.

This year it seems that the HD market is in play and the 3 names that kept coming up when doing comparisons were the..

I’m a Vado girl through and through. I love the size, the weight and the flexibility. I do not think that I could live my life without a Vado. A Vado HD will bring the perfect life for me!

I love my flip! I do wish it had more memory time, but 2hrs has been enough. It’s so easy to download the videos, I almost always have full memory. The software that comes w/flip allows you to pull still pictures and make the videos black and white, add music etc. I have out of town clients who are purchasing a home and they love the flip videos I send them.

I always use to pay attention to these gadgets
And run over to Best Buy and get one
But I found the capture was the easy part
the hard part was editing the video
into something coherent and with value
Any monkey can capture Video
It’s the composition of that captured video
And its use thereafter that is the hard part!

Besides I am holding out for the iPhone 3.0
no HD but I will post to Twitter
and start a Revolution!

Creative just sent me an email noting Vado Silver on sale for $79. I own both the original Vado (“standard definition”) and the HD. Both really shoot nice video and are a snap to use. Both are prefect for tossing in my bag wherever I go. I don’t get all wigged out taking them places unlike when I’m shooting with more expensive gear. I have also tried the Flip and Kodak. Creative’s Vado edges both of them out IMHO. Good stuff.

How can you even review something like this based solely on specs? Video quality is by far the most important to most people, thus making this post relatively pointness.

@Bigunit – in all fairness I did mention this post will be based on just SPECS ALONE and no where did I mention that I will be comparing video quality. Maybe one day I will do a Video Quality Comparison post.

is the Flip a flop? don’t think so. do know that dealing with HD content is harder then low quality video.

I can tell you this, The flip ultra HD, is useless unless you purchase your own rechargeable batteries, or standard ones. As soon as i plugged it in, the battery overheats and charging is paused. Thousands of people have experienced the same issue, just google it. I cannot beleive you pay for an item, and part of it doesnt work. So I returned it, and tried one more, same thing, right out of the box… They are manufacture DEFECT, for the batteries do not work properly.. SO, if your trying to decide, I WOULD clearly go with a sony, or Vado over the FLip, until they release a newer generation camera that can be used right out of the box.

another factor to consider when choosing a pocket cam is audio. between the flip ultra or mino and the sony webbie, the flip offers stereo sound while the sony offers mono.
