That's true. I feel like myspace won mostly because it wasn't infested with children, however I see some other reasons mainly inability to make your anything you wanted with your page (countless pink/black sites with every possible part animated and extremely annoying background music were the simply painful on the eyes) and the ammount of addond and widgets available for everyone.

Forget about facebook and myspace a new player is coming, "mypepo" Competition is good.

Take a look at mypepo.com - It is an Open Source Social site using state of the art blogging platform WordPress. Currently in Beta and far from what they claim it will be but it looks and acts like nothing you've seen before.

I really see a potential here and a threat to MySpace 'Out of Control' and Facebook 'Biggest seller of your Privacy'.

Okay, I guess I am a Myspace person here. I check my Mypsace more then my Facebook. I heard an adult the other signed up for Facebook. Just to keep in touch with their now College Kid. lol. but i don't know people do post pictures of their college life so sometimes you have to remember who's on your friend's list and what pictures you put up. Thanks for putting a card in my entrecard's box. I think your website is very interesting.

Good article. Facebook is mostly used for business networking now. and Myspace is used by teens to show their interests, personality and uniqueness.

While I agree with the underlying point you are making, I do not think Facebook is professional or "a breeding ground for business minded adults." It is more professional than myspace

But your main assertion rigs true and spotlights the fact that there is a desire for something professional, but has yet to be offered. I think we will see social media moving towards the clean cut with relevance as both a business tool and social networker. If you doubt what I am saying only listen to what companies are saying. They want social media to be able to connect (with employees and clients alike) but nothing yet really satisfies their standards.

Anyway, just my two cents. A very good article.

I hate myspace because it does just seem cluttered with stuff for "kids". Not that I'm a huge fan of facebook but its just cleaner and does come across as more professional.

Myspace music is great though, only reason I go to the site.
