<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>You can now see what’s being said inside your city.</strong></p>
<p>Twitter has over 55 million status updates per day.  That is a ton of data that is being published online what’s happening right now.  With more and more users using mobile devices to post status updates, and with more users opting in to include their location with their Tweets – more and more of the 55 million updates are being tagged with a location.  This is going to spawn interesting tools for internet users.</p>
<p>One of these tools was recently launched in the form of Sency for Cities  (<a href="http://sency.com/cities.php">http://sency.com/cities.php</a>). <strong>This tool, allows anyone to see what’s being said right now by people inside of Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, London, New York City, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Francisco, Seattle, &amp; Washington DC.</strong> So, when there is a topic that you want to get the publics thoughts on – you can now do that by performing a search at one of these city centric engines.  Sency for Cities also shows you what’s hot right now in each city via 10 current trends listed under the search box.  Lastly, this initiative will show you where people are at right now based on recent status updates in a city that provide an actual location.</p>
<p>All of this data can you help you learn more about what is going on right now inside of a city.  It is also interesting to compare the current sentiment in your city with what the mood is in a rival city.  Or, when a new movie comes out – you may be curious what all people are saying about it – but Sency for Cities can also show you what people in your city – are saying about it right now.</p>
<p>As time goes on – this data will get even more rich.  You will eventually be able to see what’s being said at actual locations as opposed to just inside a specific city.  And as the data becomes more targeted and helpful – more uses will come out of real time location search.  But the great thing about it is that it’s different for everyone, so a way you utilize and learn from it may be extremely different from how the next person uses it.</p>
<p>The plan is for more cities to be added to <strong>Sency for Cities</strong> – so down the line – more people can see what’s going on inside of their respective city.</p>

<p><strong>The Blame Game</strong></p>
<p>Over the years, there has been many articles written about how certain Social Networks were causes for certain events.</p>
<p>Below are a few examples:</p>

<li>Mashable writes about how <a href="http://mashable.com/2009/04/14/facebook-evicted/" target="_blank">Facebook Can Get You Fired, Dumped, And Yes, Evicted</a></li>
<li>Gawker explains how a <a href="http://valleywag.gawker.com/tech/your-privacy-is-an-illusion/bank-intern-busted-by-facebook-321802.php" target="_blank">bank intern gets fired because of Facebook</a>.</li>
<li>Another story of getting fired from Facebook is from Switched,<a href="http://www.switched.com/2009/02/27/teen-calls-job-boring-on-facebook-gets-fired/" target="_blank"> a teen calls job &#8220;boring&#8221;</a></li>
<li>Most recently, the famous story about how a <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29796962/" target="_blank">would-be cisco employee would of got hired except Twitter got him fired</a>.</li>
<li>Americanshelflife talks about how <a href="http://americanshelflife.wordpress.com/2008/04/20/the-time-i-was-dumped-on-facebook-breaking-up-in-the-digital-world/" target="_blank">she got dumped because of Facebook</a></li>
</ul>
<p>Now noticed, all the articles have one thing in common and that is doing the blame game.  It seems like placing the blame of the bad news on the Social Network is more shocking than comparing it to a normal event without Social Media involved.</p>
<p>It appears with the new hype and phenomenon of Social Media taking place that these stories get hyped due to having the event take place on Social Media.  This maybe the case, but they are still all missing the main point and that&#8217;s being accountable for their own actions.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>Social Media Are Just Communication Tools and Mediums</strong></p>
<p>Twitter, Myspace and Facebook are just Social Networks.  They are communication tools that we use on a daily basis.  Although these are great sources for communication, they are just that and doesn&#8217;t force us to do anything  against our will.</p>
<p>If you ever heard the saying&#8230;.</p>
<p>&#8220;Computers don&#8217;t make errors, people make errors&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Guns don&#8217;t kill people, people kill people&#8221;</p>
<p>These sayings imply that to not blame the tools but to blame the users.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>Be Accountable For Your Actions</strong></p>
<p>There is a great movement and book out there if you haven&#8217;t heard it, it&#8217;s called <a href="http://www.qbq.com/" target="_blank">QBQ</a> &#8211; The Question Behind The Question and Personal Accountability.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s what this is all about, these users on these Social Networks need to stop blaming Social Media for their actions and take personal accountability for what they did.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not Facebook&#8217;s fault that the users got fire for posting incriminating information&#8230;..</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not Twitters fault for displaying a users Tweet on his careless opinion about his future employer&#8230;</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not Myspace&#8217;s fault that you got dumped&#8230;&#8230;</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s look at the cold hard facts.  These users are all soley responsible for their actions and just because they have the ability to showcase their information to the world they should have the common sense to be more careful in what they put out there on the net.</p>
<p>Just because you entertained the idea that you will never get caught because it&#8217;s Social Media, doesn&#8217;t make it right.  If you published your hatred opinion in a book instead of Facebook, don&#8217;t think you will not fall under the same consequences.  Doing something wrong is doing something wrong regardless if you get caught or not.</p>
<p>Bottom line is that Social Media is not to blame&#8230;.the blame is upon yourself&#8230;take personal accountability for your actions and next time make better judgement calls before you go out and do something you will regret.</p>

<p><strong>Seesmic Desktop Launches</strong></p>
<p>Twhirl was pretty much the only competition for Tweetdeck and was naturally crushed by Tweetdeck&#8217;s great organizational columns and clean interface.  Twhirl was purchased by Seesmic last year and just couldn&#8217;t find a way to catch up to Tweetdeck&#8217;s success until now, maybe&#8230;</p>
<p>Seesmic just launched a new third party Twitter client called Seesmic Desktop which is only in &#8220;Desktop Preview&#8221; which basically means beta or alpha stage still.  Go to Seesmics website <a href="http://desktop.seesmic.com/" target="_blank">http://desktop.seesmic.com/</a> and input your e-mail address to get an invite.    </p>
<p>Keep in mind this is a Desktop Preview, so there is many bugs and issues to be resolved still.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>The main focus is having Multiple Accounts     </strong></p>
<p>Seesmic has seemed to answer out Twitter prayers by providing a client that can handle multiple accounts at the same time!  I love this feature and I have been following the TweetDeck suggestion boards for a while and I am surprised TweetDeck has never implemented this highly sought out feature.</p>

<p>It is so simple to switch accounts and manage all your replies, main streams and even direct messages.  You can even reply in which ever account you want to display in the client.</p>

<p><strong>Why have multiple accounts?</strong></p>
<p>Most users have multiple accounts to fill in different niches.  For example myself, I have a business and a personal Twitter account.  I of course Tweet my business updates via my Twitter business profile and my personal tweets via my personal Twitter profile.</p>
<p>Now instead of logging off Tweetdeck everytime I want to Tweet in my business profile, I can seamlessly switch to either account on the fly.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>The clone is missing the Facebook feature</strong></p>
<p>Yes Seesmic Desktop has pretty much copied Tweetdecks main features the one feature that Seesmic did not take as of yet is the Facebook feature which TweetDeck has.  TweetDeck just recently came out with a new update just in the nick of time when Seesmic launched, coincidence?</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>Other Cons</strong></p>
<p>Like I mentioned before, not to be too harsh on Seesmic because they are still in preview mode&#8230;.below are some cons I am frustrated with</p>
<p> </p>
<ul>
<li>The interface is really ugly and the fonts are not clean compared to TweetDeck.  It&#8217;s really hard to read sometimes Twitter users profiles and other messages because of this.  They really need to get a good graphic artist to kick this up a notch.</li>
<li>Adding people to groups is really a pain because unlike Tweetdeck you can only add people by finding the people you want to add in your Twitter Stream Archive or using the search feature.  There is no master user list where it populates all the Twitter usernames in your follow list so that way you can just check off the ones you want to include.  This is very frustrating and I hope they fix this soon.</li>
<li>Errors&#8230;Errors&#8230;Errors&#8230;.I really hate when I shut down the client it does not save my groups and I get this annoying error window.</li>

<p>Bottom line is that for users who were craving for the multiple account feature, well now you can fullfill that with Seesmic and I am pretty sure that the final released version should hopefully clear up these issues before then&#8230;.</p>

<p>According to <a href="http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/online_mobile/twitters-tweet-smell-of-success/" target="_blank">Nielsen Netview report</a>, Twitter users are most popular among working adults rather than the Generation Y (1978 -1995) &amp; the Millennials (1982 &#8211; 2001)</p>
<p>These are interesting Stats below showing that the largest age group is 35-49yr olds which make up over 40% of Twitter users.</p>

<p><strong>&#8220;Breakfast Club&#8221; Syndrome</strong></p>
<p>You either fall into the &#8220;Fad&#8221; crowd or &#8220;Rebel&#8221; crowd.  Most young adults would rather be unique and non-conformed as growing up they tend to be rebellious against parents and rules a.k.a the breakfast club syndrome.</p>
<p>Twitter has lately became more Mainstream than ever with the help of popular media shows like The Today Show and even the Presidential Specials, chances are if you have turned on your T.V lately or browsed internet articles you have ran across the term &#8220;Twitter&#8221;.  Seems like everyone is jumping on this bandwagon&#8230;.except for the young adults.</p>
<p>In the beginning, Twitter was only known to the elite Tech geeks (Age group 16-35)  Twitter was underground and Indy.  Like most popular underground things, the inevitable is that one day they will become popular.  By becoming popular, most young adults tend to stray away from this service mainly because the utter idea of having Mom, Dad or even Grandparents get into this just makes Twitter&#8230;&#8221;Uncool&#8221;.</p>
<p>However, Most middle age adults are hopping on the Tech bandwagon impressively fast.  The ever popular Facebook network was just mainly for college students and now Facebook has become so popular with Adults that almost every parent out there has a profile.</p>
<p>I think for the most part, the young bucks out there (I am a Generation Y&#8217;r fyi) doesn&#8217;t see the &#8220;Business&#8221; and &#8220;mini-blog&#8221; core values in Twitter.  If they wanted to inform status updates, young bucks were accustomed to Myspace and Facebook platforms.  Twitter has taken on a role of a live RSS Feed Link Sharing and Business Networking which are great benefits for most Middle Age adults that may not attract Young Adults over.</p>
<p>Who knows, maybe the young adults will take over soon on Twitter but at this rate with the media and business aspects of Twitter, I wouldn&#8217;t count on it.  Very interesting stats indeed though.  What do you think?</p>

<p>You don&#8217;t have to leave your house to join these events you can join Web conference calls as well.  Web conferences are excellent resources for events on the fly and ease of accessibility.</p>
<p><strong>Focus</strong></p>
<p>The secret of success is focusing on goals and visions of success.  Surround yourself with successful people to help influence and inspire you on this path of success.</p>

<p>About 6pm EST the Twitter world has witnessed a massive DM response saying “<strong>hey! Check out this funny blog about you? http:/ / j an nawa litax. blogspot. com</strong> ” (Don&#8217;t click ont that link)</p>
<p>The link turned out to be a Re-Direct Phishing Scam to a Fake Twitter Log In Screen.  The idea behind this scam is of course tricking users thinking that they somehow logged off of Twitter and will need to re-enter their username and password.</p>
<p>Phishing in the cyberworld is a play-on-words for Fishing which shows scammers in the act of Fishing action to trick people into getting their Passwords.</p>
<p><strong>Don&#8217;t Mess With The TwittPack</strong></p>
<p>Twitter is a very tight community that if provoked can turn on you like a rabid wild wolf pack feeding off a hungry frenzy.  We all witnessed the <a href="http://parenting.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/17/moms-and-motrin/" target="_blank">Motrin Mom</a> case where the Twitter world backlashed the Motrin PR people and ultimately started an uproar in the cyber world.</p>
<p>Now another case arises from this and this time the Tight Twitter community has turned on Scammers.  Below is an excerpt of just some conversations going on.  At the time of writing this article the Twitter Search trends has reached over thousands of Tweets just in a 30 minute span.</p>

<p>The Twitter spammer will sadly feel the wrath of backlash in the Twitter World and will be another guinea pig made into example in not to mess with the Twitter Wolf Pack.</p>
<p>The wildfire has spreaded from the Twitter Staff to Google&#8217;s own poster child Matt Cutt.  The scammer who might of gotten away with this kind of thing if they kept this on the down low and really didn&#8217;t mass affect everyone but the scammer purley deserves this because you got to be insane to think that the Twitter community will not spread news faster than Superman.</p>
<p> Now the scammer will more than likely be shut down, banned, pressed charges and be black balled in the cyberworld forever.</p>
<p>Within a half hour the Twitter Staff has uploaded a Static Banner across all the Twitter Home Screens</p>

<p>December 31st marked the day where Google updated the PageRank numbers for websites and blogs.</p>
<p>A PageRank is a metric measuring tool created by Google to measure reputation and importance content.  The last PageRank update occurred on September 2008 and usually occurs every 2-3 month intervals.  A wiki of PageRank can be found <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>
<p>There is however a lot of controversy over PageRank because webmasters are more focused on A <em><span style="font-style: normal;">search engine results page</span></em>, or <em><span style="font-style: normal;">SERP.  The thing about Google is that they are very hush hush on the algorithms and formulas used behind their metrics including PageRank.  Webmasters have often experienced disappointment and frustration when determining PageRank and have often lashed out online with the results they have received.</span></em></p>

<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;">The bottom line about PageRank is that its just another measurement tool used in the online world.  This may not be used to gain better search results but here is what it may be used for &#8230;</span></em></p>

<li>A statistic used by Domain sellers &amp; buyers.  Like it or not, domain buyers will want to know about your PageRank. </li>
<li>Can Deliver traffic based on PageRank worship and comment love.  Bloggers love finding high PageRanks to subscribe and leave comments on so that they can build their own backlinks through your PageRank Juice.  You will also gain traffic through un-marketed blogrolls, bloggers will more than likely list a high PageRank than a low PageRank.</li>
<li>Google&#8217;s highly secretive search results formula still might be influenced by PageRank whether its a very small amount or a high amount.</li>
<li>Overall PageRank is a measurement number widely viewed by the online world to determine rank.</li>
</ul>
<p>So whether you like it or not, the best suggestion would to have a high PageRank anyways instead of complaining about it.  It&#8217;s best to have a good rank rather than be left in the dust and lose out on opportunities on a simple PageRank upkeep.</p>

<p>So below are tips and advice that I have done just in the matter of 1 month.  Social Media Vision opened up on 11-06-2008.  My other blogs based on Finance &amp; Sales are all in the PR3 range and took many months to achieve that rank.  In the forum world people have also said to wait at least 1 year or so to even see a PR1 change, so I was very humbled and surprised when I see a Google PageRank 3 achieved in this PageRank.</p>

<p>Now there is no exact formula out there and guarantee due to the complex nature of Google but feel free to follow these tips below to help gain some tips on achieving a higher PageRank.</p>

<p><strong>Google PageRank Tips</strong></p>
<p><strong>1. No BlackHat Advertisements</strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">Google will penalize for unlawful selling or buying links.  Another blackhat ad trick is selling your posts on your blog for profit or Pay Per Post.  If you are going to do these ads on your site, use the &#8220;no-follow&#8221; code rel=<em>nofollow.  <span style="font-style: normal;">This will allow Google to not track that you are following these ads or links.  I would suggest even using it on all your 125&#215;125 Block ads.</span></em></span></strong></p>

<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;"><strong>2. Use Do-Follow Forums utilizing forum signatures</strong></span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;">Forums are great resources for hidden promotion gems.  You can create a signature that displays your website/blog on ever comment you make in the forum.  I was commenting on forums that were in my niche &#8220;Social Media&#8221; like</span></em></p>

<p>You can use a do-follow search engine like <a href="http://www.dofollowforums.com/" target="_blank">DoFollow Forums</a> to determine if the forum will give you PageRank juice with your signature links.  It won&#8217;t make any sense to start commenting like crazy expecting results if the forum is a no-follow forum.  </p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;"><strong>3.  Comment on Do-Follow blogs</strong></span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;">Just like with forums, search and find Do-Follow blogs to comment on.  A good way to see if they follow a do-follow rule is look the blogger&#8217;s comments page and notice where the user will leave a website in the comment field, do a right click &#8211;&gt; view source to look at the code to find the website of that commenter and if you see a no-follow code right next to the commenters website then that blog is a no-follow blog.  </span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;">There are many search engines out there that you can Google Do-Follow search.  I have found that commenting on the Do-Follow blogs has also upped my community experience too in getting to know my blogger niche community.</span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;"><strong>4.  Comment on Commentluv blogs</strong></span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;">You may noticed my blog is commentluv enabled which allows my commenters a display of the last blog post they wrote if they opted to display their website link.  This is a great link love where you can gain great authority and new readers with commentluv.</span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;"><strong>5.  Find blogs with top commenter widgets</strong></span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;">I have also found that finding blogs that display the Top Commenter widgets that show the top 5 or 10 commenters on the sidebar is another way to gain PR link juice.  Since this will be static in showcasing your site, the main website is giving your site a major boost in back-link juice.  I have found that major websites with high PR is very beneficial to get on the top commenter list even though it may be difficult to achieve.</span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;"><strong>6.  Submit site to directories</strong></span></em></p>
<p>First rule is to develop content first within your website .  I wrote a good 10 articles before I started submitting to all the major blog and website directories out there.  It may be tedious but its worth it.</p>
<p><em><span style="font-style: normal;"><strong>7.  Use social bookmarking</strong></span></em></p>
<p>Social Bookmarking sites have really helped me with SERP and Google organic search results.  Use Social Bookmarking tools to get your blog indexed fast and start gaining authority in the Social Media world.</p>
<p>So even though you may hate PageRank and don&#8217;t think its worth it.  I highly suggest that you may reconsider and hopefully these tips/guidelines may help on your next PageRank update.  It&#8217;s only 2-3 month intervals so if you were disappointed on the last update, hold your head up and make a major bounce back.</p>

<p>Many users and sites have developed similar guidelines like 1 out of 4 promotion or every other promotion.  The bottom line is that most guidelines and roles to follow can be based on the 80/20% rule in Social Media.</p>
<p><strong>80% Portion</strong></p>
<p>80% of your sociable content should not be based on your shameless self promotion.  This content should be used to engage other people&#8217;s work you have liked or content that has nothing to do with your promotion but rather gray area and safer subjects.</p>
<p>An example of a gray area content would be talking about a subject that is in your niche of field but you haven&#8217;t specifically said your own brand.   This is like going to a Mustang convention and talking about cars with people without having to notify people you are a Car Salesman.</p>
<p><strong>20% Portion</strong></p>
<p>This portion is where you can start promoting your content or talk about your brand.  Keep in mind, nobody likes a door-to-door sales man who constantly throws up shameless marketing that is unwanted.</p>
<p>Keep it simple and use common sense.  How would you like to see content in Social Media that does nothing but shamelessly promote their business and provides no substance in interaction and contributions?</p>
<p>Throw in your stuff sporadically and enjoy Social Media without making this a difficult task at hand.  Don&#8217;t focus on over analyzing your contributions, just keep it minimal and you will do fine.</p>

<p><strong>Social Bookmarking &#8211; </strong>Social Bookmarking sites like Digg have a built in community of users that engage in Social Networking on a daily basis.  These sites are not just for sharing content but also social networking.  Do not just shamelessly Digg your own content and prove no real value of other websites you find useful.  </p>
<p>This will blackmark you in the community and you are doing nothing but hurting yourself.  If you allow yourself to help contribute more often and become a better community member chances are you will gain more friends and better results in getting more votes.  This is a win/win situation, don&#8217;t forget to help promote your friends or your own favorite articles that is not your own.</p>

<p><strong>Twitter &#8211; </strong>Twitter is crucial for real time results because users can see your Twitter persona fairly quickly and if they notice you are doing nothing but promoting your blog or not providing any value in your tweets, you will notice a decrease in followers and will gain a reputation online as a spammer.  You will see HUGE results if you apply the 80/20 rule here or 1 out of 5 tweets here. </p>

<p><strong>Social Networks &#8211; </strong>Networks like Myspace and Facebook may not be built on heavy contributions like Social Bookmarking, Twitter and Blogs but the same rules apply here if you are constantly promoting your content via wall posts or shared link content.  This is by far the most powerful way to get your promotion out there if done correctly.  </p>
<p>Forget about trying to sell your image and just focus on building a relationship with your new online friends.  Chances are you will get results without having to promote or ask for it by the sheer fact of online trust and reputation gained.</p>

<p><strong>Blogs </strong>- Granted your blogs are whatever you want it to be and can be just a sole money making machine site that all it does is self promotions but keep in mind the most successful Bloggers out there gain much success when they don&#8217;t focus on selling and just writing valuable c0ntent.  </p>
<p>Once the content is established Professional Bloggers find ways of implementing their business and sales in posts sporadically and never continuously.  The 80/20 rule is being used by professional Bloggers for a long time now and you may not of realized it but the best advertising are not the ones that are most obvious.</p>

<p>He&#8217;s Just Not That Into You is an American romantic comedy film of romantic misadventures of several individuals in their twenties and thirties.</p>
<p>The main plot is based upon the theme of Sex and the City Dialogue in which Miranda asks Berger to analyze the post-date behavior of a potential love interest. Because the man declined Miranda&#8217;s invitation to come up to her apartment after the date, stating that he has an early meeting, Berger concludes that &#8220;he&#8217;s just not that into you,&#8221; adding that &#8220;when a guy&#8217;s really into you, he&#8217;s coming upstairs, meeting or no meeting.&#8221;</p>
